What Is Anxiety?
Anxiety is a potent emotion that can manifest in various ways within the body. Emotionally, it may arise through worried thoughts and feelings of tension, while physically, it can lead to symptoms like gastrointestinal issues or elevated blood pressure. Although anxiety is a common human experience, distinguishing between ordinary feelings of anxiousness and an anxiety disorder is crucial. Our team of psychiatrists at Serenity Mental Health Centers is dedicated to assisting patients in identifying whether their experiences align with an anxiety disorder. Through personalized one-on-one sessions, we strive to evaluate prolonged anxiousness, diagnose specific anxiety disorders, and determine the most effective treatment approach. We understand the challenges of navigating such conditions, but rest assured that our Lakewood, CO team is here to provide the necessary support and care so you can live life more freely.
How Is Anxiety Treated?
Understanding that every individual is unique, we acknowledge that our patients may grapple with various forms of anxiety, such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder, and panic disorder. Recognizing that there's no one-size-fits-all solution to addressing anxiety, our team has fostered a safe and welcoming environment where patients can freely express their concerns, ask questions, and explore available treatment avenues. Our goal is to tailor treatment to each patient's specific needs and preferences without compromising their standards. To achieve this, we offer a range of anxiety treatment options, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and ketamine IV therapy. With our dedicated support, we're committed to accompanying each patient on their journey toward enhanced mental wellness.

Anxiety can develop due to a range of influences that make some individuals more vulnerable than others. Contributing risk factors include:
- Genetic predisposition
- Environmental stressors
- Chronic medical conditions
- Substance use and alcohol dependence
- Limited social connections
- Personality traits
Understanding these contributing factors can help with early intervention and the development of effective coping strategies.

What Are the Causes and Symptoms of Anxiety?
Anxiety stems from a mix of genetic, environmental, and psychological factors. Experiences such as traumatic events or major life shifts can set off anxiety, with genetic factors and the brain's chemical balance also contributing. Symptoms commonly associated with anxiety are constant worrying, an inability to relax, and physical signs like a quickened heartbeat, excessive sweating, and tightened muscles. Moreover, those affected might find it hard to focus, feel easily annoyed, and suffer from disrupted sleep. Understanding and addressing these triggers and symptoms is crucial for the proper management and treatment of anxiety.
